Mortality

I’m dying, she said,

as she looked out to sea.

But I’ll have a replacement, she said,

as she looked out to sea.

So you won’t have to feel sad, she said,

as she looked out to sea.

I’m not immortal, she said.

I can’t fight everything alone, she said.

I’d be better off dead, she said.

She said, I’m dying,

as she looked out to sea.

She said, What do I have left?

as she looked out to sea.

She whispered, Who will save me?

As she leapt into the sea.
